Sell
Sell your business for what it is actually worth.
Most owners have no idea what their business would actually sell for, or what is quietly holding the number down. We tell you both, make it worth more, then run a professional sale from value to close. Top dollar, and easy on you.
01 · Value
Know what it is worth.
Most owners are guessing. We give you a data-driven estimate of what your business is worth today, and more importantly why. It combines real market transaction data with what we have learned running and integrating dozens of businesses ourselves, so the number reflects how buyers actually price a business like yours.
Start free with your Value Snapshot. Ten questions, about three minutes. It is the on-ramp to a full value estimate and a readiness review.
02 · Prepare
Know how to increase it.
Every seller gets a Value Improvement Plan. It names the handful of changes most likely to raise your value, lower the risk a buyer prices in and make the business easier to sell. Some owners take it to market right away. Others spend six months or two years working the plan first. Either way, you know exactly what to do and what it is worth to do it.
Be ready before buyers arrive:
- Clean, credible financials
- Operational reporting a buyer can trust
- Documented processes, so the business does not live in your head
- Automation where it earns its keep
- A data room, ready to open
- A management presentation that holds up
- Pre-diligence, so nothing surprises you at the table
03 · Market and close
Run a real process, not a listing.
When you are ready, we run the kind of process the professionals run. We build the CIM that markets your business properly, take it to qualified buyers, screen who gets through and carry you through management meetings, LOIs, diligence and closing. You stay focused on running the business. We handle the deal.
- CIM development
- Buyer outreach
- NDA management
- Buyer screening
- Management meetings
- LOIs
- Due diligence
- Closing coordination
Questions
The questions sellers ask us.
Selling is the biggest transaction most owners ever make, and most have never done it. Here is what they ask us first.
Will the sale stay confidential?
Yes. Your employees, customers and competitors do not find out you are exploring a sale. We market under NDA, screen buyers before they see anything identifying and control what gets shared at each stage.
What is quietly holding my price down?
Usually owner dependence, customer concentration, thin financial reporting and processes that live in your head. We find these before a buyer does, put a number on each and tell you which are worth fixing first.
Do I have to choose between running the business and selling it?
No. We run the process, the outreach, the data room and the diligence. You keep running the business, which is exactly what protects the value while the deal is in motion.
How long does it take?
A sale process usually runs several months from going to market to close. If the business needs preparation first, that can add six months to two years, and it is usually where the biggest gains in price come from.
Is my business even sellable?
Most profitable owner-led businesses are, though not always at the number the owner has in mind. The Value Snapshot tells you where you stand today and the plan tells you what would move it.
Proof
We build the value a buyer actually pays for.
Before KPI, Jeff spent years as the operator inside DealerRater, a private-equity-backed business, doing exactly this work. He set the strategy, installed a real leadership team, and rebuilt customer success around what customers actually needed, then evolved the product and the go-to-market to match. It compounded. One disciplined price increase, across about a fifth of the customer base, added ten million dollars of enterprise value on its own. DealerRater sold for more than a hundred million. That is what making a business worth more before you sell it actually looks like.
Already have a broker or banker?
You do not have to choose. If you already have a business broker or an investment banker lined up to run your sale, we can still do the Build work first: raise the value, clean up the financials and take the surprises out of diligence. They run the deal. We make sure the business they take to market is worth more. The two fit together, and we will not step on that relationship. If you are that advisor, see how we partner with you.
